Recent Developments in Disease Management ROI Measurement (2 Part Webcast)

Solucia Inc. invites you to attend a two-part webcast entitled: "Recent developments in DM ROI measurement". Speakers are consulting actuary Ian Duncan, FSA, MAAA (designated "the leading actuary in Disease Management"by Al Lewis of the Disease Management Purchasing Consortium), Andrea DeVries, Ph.D., Analyst, Highmark Inc. and Al Lewis, President of the Disease Management Purchasing Consortium.

Discussions of Disease Management ROI in the past have focused on how difficult it is to achieve credibility because of confounding factors such as regression to the mean. Purchasers were left with the impression that there was no way to produce believable savings estimates. Recent research, however, is beginning to shed some badly-needed light in this area. During the webcast we will discuss the practical application of some of the recent research and publications covering the impact on Disease Management ROI of factors such as bias and medical trend. The papers that will be covered include:

  • "Estimating the Return on Investment in Disease Management Programs Using a Pre-Post Analysis"(by Fetterolf, Wennberg and DeVries, published in Disease Management, Fall 2004);
  • "A Comparative Analysis of Chronic and Non-chronic Insured Member Cost Trends"(by Bachler, Duncan and Juster, published by the Society of Actuaries);
  • "Testing Actuarial Methods for Evaluating Disease Management Savings" by Duncan, Owen and Dove (submitted to the Society of Actuaries 2005).
  • The principal issues identified in the Disease Management Purchasing Consortium (DPMC) "White Paper"by Lewis, Linden and Duncan (unpublished).

Registrants will be provided with copies of the Society of Actuaries and DMAA papers in advance. Registrants may also purchase a copy of the DMPC White Paper at the discounted price of $300. Write to info@soluciaconsulting.com for information on ordering with the discount.
